Anchorage, Alaska (Sept. 28) -- Cathleen Price
(Fr., Gresham, Or./Sam Barlow) recorded a career-high 23 kills and
Carrie Colvin (Jr., Vancouver, Wa./Prairie) finished with a
career-high 24 digs to lead the Falcons past the University of
Alaska-Anchorage, 30-24, 28-30, 30-28, 33-31, in a conference
matchup Friday night at the UAA Sports Center.
Price's 23 kills and Colvin's 24 digs are the
most for any Falcon player this season in both categories.
Friday's victory over UAA (8-6, 1-3) was the
Falcons (11-3, 4-2) third-straight conference win. The Seawolves
hung tough throughout the match, winning one and scoring 28 and 31
points in two others, but the Falcons proved too tough.
Four Falcons finished the match with
double-doubles in kills and digs. Leah Wiiest (Sr., Spokane,
Wa./Deer Park/Cornell) finished with 20 kills and 11 digs; Price
added 11 digs to her 23 kills; Monica Abrahamson (Sr., Spokane,
Wa./Rogers) recorded 12 kills and 17 digs; Colvin added 12 kills
to her 24 digs.
Price and Wiiest led the Falcons with
outstanding hitting percentages, finishing at .432 and .356,
respectively. Price also led the Falcons in service aces with five
while setter Katy Higgins (So., Kirkland, Wa./Redmond) led the
team in assists with 61.
The Falcons continue their Alaska road trip
tomorrow night when they face University of Alaska-Fairbanks at 8
p.m. PDT.
