Falcons Volleyball Team Rallies Past Crusaders
September 22, 2001

Nampa, Id. (Sept. 22) -- Leah Wiiest (Sr., Spokane, Wa./Deer Park/Cornell) led a balanced Seattle Pacific offense with 18 kills and four blocks as the Falcons rallied to beat Northwest Nazarene, 32-34, 30-25, 25-30, 30-25, 15-7 in a GNAC conference matchup Saturday night in Nampa, Id.

With two of the team's best hitters nursing injuries, the Falcons (3-2, 10-3) came at the Crusaders (2-3, 6-4) with a balanced offensive attack to overcome a two games to one deficit and claim their second consecutive conference victory.

Five Falcons climbed into double-figures in the kill category and four notched 11 or more digs on defense. Lesley Kamphouse (Fr., Sumas, Wa./Nooksack Valley) finished second in team kills with 15 while Monica Abrahamson (Sr., Spokane, Wa./Rogers) continued to shine on defense for the Falcons, finishing the match with 20 digs. Katy Higgins (So., Kirkland, Wa./Redmond) spread the offensive wealth for the Falcons with 57 assists.

SPU travels north to Alaska for a pair of conference matches next Friday and Saturday.
