Nampa, Id. (Sept. 22) -- Leah Wiiest (Sr.,
Spokane, Wa./Deer Park/Cornell) led a balanced Seattle Pacific
offense with 18 kills and four blocks as the Falcons rallied to
beat Northwest Nazarene, 32-34, 30-25, 25-30, 30-25, 15-7 in a
GNAC conference matchup Saturday night in Nampa, Id.
With two of the team's best hitters nursing
injuries, the Falcons (3-2, 10-3) came at the Crusaders (2-3,
6-4) with a balanced offensive attack to overcome a two games to
one deficit and claim their second consecutive conference victory.
Five Falcons climbed into double-figures in the
kill category and four notched 11 or more digs on defense. Lesley
Kamphouse (Fr., Sumas, Wa./Nooksack Valley) finished second in
team kills with 15 while Monica Abrahamson (Sr., Spokane,
Wa./Rogers) continued to shine on defense for the Falcons,
finishing the match with 20 digs. Katy Higgins (So., Kirkland,
Wa./Redmond) spread the offensive wealth for the Falcons with 57
assists.
SPU travels north to Alaska for a pair of
conference matches next Friday and Saturday.
