Women's Soccer Opens Conference Play with Loss
September 5, 2001

NAMPA, Id. (Sept. 5) -- In its opening game of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, the Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team was dealt its second straight defeat, 3-2, at Northwest Nazarene Wednesday afternoon.

Andrea Larsen (Sr., Portland, Or./Central Catholic) scored her third goal in four games and Anna-Kate Peterson (Fr., Portland, Or./Cleveland) also added a second-half score after a corner kick by Michelle Sanders (Fr., Centralia, Wa.) but the Falcons (0-1-0/1-2-1) could not recover from a 2-0 halftime deficit.

Seattle Pacific hosts Central Washington in its inaugural home game Saturday at 7 at Interbay Stadium.

The Crusaders remained unbeaten (1-0-0/4-0-0) by staking a 2-0 lead shortly before halftime on goals by Lacey Rasmussen and Jamie Swanson less than five minutes apart. Swanson's goal, coming 34 seconds before intermission, came after SPU keeper Jennier Hull (Fr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) blocked but could not hold a shot by Randi Hufford.
