Chico State Deals SPU Men 2nd Straight Soccer Defeat
August 29, 2001

CHICO, Calif. (Aug. 29) -- Chris Wondolowski scored one goal and set-up two others as Chico State dealt 13th-ranked Seattle Pacific University its second consecutive defeat, 3-1 in a men's nonconference soccer match at University Soccer Stadium Wednesday night.

The Falcons (1-2-0), in the midst of eight consecutive road games, failed to generate much offense until midway through the second half.

Already down by two goals, in the 66th minute midfielder Erik Skipper (Sr., Hillsboro, Or./Glencoe) pulled them a goal back with a 19-yard free kick, his second goal of the season.

Wondolowski crossed to Ian Marshall for the game's first goal at 26:42 and fed Joe Maras for a 2-0 lead at 55:22. Wondolowski added an insurance tally with 40 seconds remaining. The Wildcats (3-0-0) finished with an 11-5 edge in shots Coach Cliff McCrath started freshman James Ward (Salem, Or./Sprague) in goal, but moved him to forward for the final five minutes and inserted Adrian Cravalho (Jr., Mililani, Hi.) at goalie.

Seattle Pacific played without defender Bobby Schefter (Sr., Yakima, Wa./West Valley), who served a one-game suspension after being red-carded Monday in the loss to Lewis.

SPU resumes action Saturday when it visits No. 1-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Ca.
