COSTA MESA, Calif. (Aug. 28) -- Jessica Henson
scored the go-ahead goal in the first half and Andrea Larsen
tallied less than five minutes later, spurring Seattle Pacific
University to its historic first-ever women's soccer victory, 3-0
over Vanguard University Tuesday night.
Sarah Richards (Fr., Bellevue, Wa./Newport)
added an insurance goal in the second half and goalkeeper Jennifer
Hull (Fr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) made eight saves in posting the
shutout.
Seattle Pacific (1-0-1), which tied its
inaugural game at Point Loma Nazarene last Saturday, was out-shot
by the Lions, 16-6. But it was Henson (Fr., Spokane,
Wa./University) who broke the scoreless tie on a breakaway in the
33rd minute. Larsen (Sr., Portland, Or./Central Catholic) scored
her second goal of the season in the 37th minute.
Vanguard dropped to 0-2-0. The Falcons visit
Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday.
