Fall Sports Begin Preseason Drills
August 10, 2001

Three of Seattle Pacific University's fall sports teams will converge on the campus this weekend and begin preseason drills at various sites Monday.

Women's soccer, entering its inaugural season, will train next week at the Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island. Meanwhile, men's soccer will conduct two-a-days at Interbay Stadium and volleyball practices at Brougham Pavilion.

The first competition of the year is Aug. 23 when women's soccer scrimmages Concordia in Huntington Beach, Ca. The Falcons' first counting game is Aug. 25 at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego. Bobby Bruch has already selected his roster of 18 players.

Volleyball officially gets underway in Miami Aug. 24 at the Barry University Invitational. Coach Kellie Radloff is bringing 13 players to camp.

Cliff McCrath will welcome 42 men's soccer players to his first training session, but expects to cut down to 26 and a travel roster of 18-20 by Aug. 20. SPU plays at Grand Canyon in Phoenix Aug. 24. That game was moved up one day from the original schedule.
