Siegel, McLaughlin and Carey Finish Season All-America
April 14, 2001

DAVIS, Ca.-Alison Siegel finished fourth on vault and Missy McLaughlin and Kim Carey hit their vault and bars routines for eighth and seventh place, respectively, representing Seattle Pacific University in the individual finals of the USA Gymnastics National Championships at Recreation Hall Saturday afternoon.

Siegel (Jr., Oakland, Ca.), who led the nation in vault average going into the finals, sprung off the apparatus for a 9.525. The junior finished the competition in fourth place, earning All-America status for the second time in 2001. Siegel placed

fourth in Thursday night's all-around final. Over her three-year career, the junior has won national honors four times.

Teammate McLaughlin (Jr., Federal Way, Wa.) vaulted a 9.265 for eighth place, earning All-America status for the first time in her career.

Kim Carey (Sr., Everett, Wa.) ended her career at Seattle Pacific in the same place in which she started. Carey swung a 9.525 on the uneven bars to place her in a tie with Texas Woman's Sarah Lumpkin, for seventh place and thus earn both All-America accolades. As a freshman, Carey finished the year All-America on vault and floor exercise.

Individual winners were Patty Walbert of Texas Woman's on vault (9.587), Ericka Ruelas of UC Davis on the uneven bars and floor exercise (9.850, 9.950), and Air Force's Beth Stott on the balance beam (9.900).

The Falcons finish the 2001 gymnastics season in third place in USA Gymnastics.
