SEATTLE (Apr. 2) -- Rachel Ross of Seattle
Pacific University was selected as Pacific West Conference women's
track & field athlete of the week for the second week in a row
and the third time in five weeks after running the season's best
1500-meter time in NCAA Division II at the Stanford Invitational.
Ross (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) surpassed her own
personal record by over 3 seconds in the morning session of the
1500, taking first place in 4 minutes, 30.71 seconds. It was the
best metric mile time by an SPU runner in nine years and No. 6
all-time.
Later, Ross needed a strong kick on the final
lap to capture her heat of the 800 in 2:10.17. She owns the No. 1
time in Div. II with a 2:08.68 two weeks ago.
Ross will take a six-race middle-distance win
streak into Saturday's Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham. |
