STANFORD, Calif. (Apr. 1) -- Rachel Ross of
Seattle Pacific University extended her unbeaten streak to six
middle-distance races with a pair of wins at the Stanford
Invitational, including the season's fastest 1500-meter time in
NCAA Division II at Cobb Track.
Ross (Jr., Kennewick, Wa.) surpassed her own

1500, taking first place in 4 minutes, 30.71 seconds. It was the
best metric mile time by an SPU runner in nine years and No. 6

Later, Ross needed a strong kick on the final
lap to capture her heat of the 800 in 2:10.17. Stanford's Maurica
Carlucci was second in 2:10.52. Ross owns the No. 1 time in Div.
II with a 2:08.68 two weeks ago.
The Falcons got another personal-best
performance from freshman Jamie Witt (Fr., Folsom, Ca.), who took
third in her heat of the 5000 in 17:29.62. It is the No. 3
qualifying time in Div. II and improved her PR by over 14 seconds.
