SEATTLE (Mar. 26) -- Standout middle-distance
runner Rachel Ross of Seattle Pacific University was chosen as the
Pacific West Conference women's track & field athlete of the
week after running the fastest 1500-meter time in NCAA Division II
this season.
At Davis, Calif., Saturday, Ross (Jr.,
Kennewick, Wa.) won her fourth straight race, using a final-lap
kick to defeat Washington's Anna Aoki by 1.90 seconds, in 4
minutes, 33.64 seconds. Ross also owns the top Div. II time in the
800 (2:08.68).
This is her second PacWest weekly award in the
past month and last week SPU pole vaulter Ally Studer earned the
award with a school-record clearance. |
