SEATTLE (Feb. 28) -- In the final rankings
prior to Sunday's NCAA tournament pairings announcement, both the
Seattle Pacific University men's and women's basketball teams
maintained their positions in the West Regional polls.
The Falcon women are No. 2 behind Cal Poly
Pomona while the men remained at No. 3. However, there was a
change at the top of the men's regional poll.
Western Washington replaced Cal State San
Bernardino at No. 1. The Vikings play at Seattle Pacific Saturday
night in a game which will decide the Pacific West Conference
championship and perhaps the site of next week's regional
playoffs. The top two seeded teams in the region earn first-round
byes while the No. 1 team serves as tournament host.
Seattle Pacific can clinch the PacWest women's
crown with a win in either one of their two remaining regular
season games. The Falcons host Humboldt State Thursday night and
Western Oregon Saturday night.
