SEATTLE (Feb. 20) -- For the second week in a
row the Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team climbed
higher in the NCAA Division II national rankings. The Falcons,
winners of nine in a row going into Thursday's game at Saint
Martin's, are No. 17, an improvement of two places.
SPU (15-3, 20-3) needs two more wins to clinch
the Pacific West Conference championship and an automatic berth in
next month's West Regional tournament. It has not lost since Jan.
18 to Central Washington. The two teams meet again Saturday night
in Ellensburg.
Seattle Pacific's basketball teams have the
fourth-best combined record in Division II. The men are 19-4 and
ranked No. 24 nationally.
