SEATTLE (Feb. 20) -- Seattle Pacific
University's Gyongyver "Gus" Balogh became a three-time
selection and both Brannon Stone and Nick Johnson were repeat
selections to the Pacific West Conference men's and women's
basketball all-academic teams.
The Falcons placed four women and three men on
the respective teams, which are comprised of returnees with grade
point averages of 3.20 or above. Balogh, the SPU scoring leader
(17.8), is an economics major with a 3.91 GPA. Joining her were
Jana Holme (Sr., 6-1, Tacoma, Wa./Wilson), Stacie Lukkes (So.,
6-0, Kent, Wa./Kentwood) and Becka Beard (So., 5-3, Bremerton,
Wa./King¹s West). Holme, starting forward and an academic
selection in 1998, is a family and consumer science, major with a
3.52 GPA. Lukkes, a business major, and Beard, a philosophy major,
are first-time selections, with GPAs of 3.92 and 3.35,
respectively.
Stone one of the standouts for the men, is a
business major with a 3.41. GPA. He and Johnson (Jr., 6-3,
Burlington, Wa./Burlington-Edison), a starting guard and business
major with a 3.33 GPA, made the team as sophomores. Reserve guard
Adam Harris (So., 6-0, Fox Island, Wa./Gig Harbor) is an English
major with a 3.46 GPA.
