SILVER CITY, Nm.-Liz Guppy scored a game high
18 points and pulled down eight rebounds as 16th-ranked Seattle
Pacific University blew out Western New Mexico 82-52 in a Pacific
West Conference women's basketball game Thursday night at Mustang
Fieldhouse.
Guppy (Sr., Beaverton, Or./Westview) was eight
of 11 from the field against the Mustangs as Seattle Pacific
netted its fourth straight victory.
Brianne Prescott (Jr., San Jose, Ca./San Jose
CC/Archbishop Mitty) dropped in 15 points, all from beyond the
arc. The junior shot 5 of 11 on the night.
Falcon scoring leader Gus Balogh (19.9ppg)
(Sr., Szombathely, Hungary) had 14 points.
One-third of the way through the 2000-01
season, SPU has been out scoring its opponents by an average of
21.7 points per game.
The Falcons shot 49 percent from the field,
out-rebounded the winless Mustangs (0-5, 0-10) 46-28 while holding
them to 19 second-half points.
Seattle Pacific (4-1, 9-1) is ranked No. 1 in
the West Region and heads to Montana State Billings for its next
contest Saturday night at 6:00 PST. The Falcons next home game is
a January 11 PacWest battle with Alaska Anchorage. Tip-off is
scheduled for 5:30.
