Kerie Hughes of Seattle Pacific University was selected as Pacific West Conference women's basketball player of the week after leading the 19th-ranked Falcons to a 83-73 win over Western Washington University.

Hughes (So., 5-7, Mount Vernon, Wa.) finished with a career high 26 points, connecting on seven of 10 shots. The point guard also had five assists and three steals in the game.

The victory was the first Falcon win over the Vikings in the last eight contests, including Seattle Pacific's only loss of the season, a three-point loss in Bellingham just a week ago.

The Falcons (6-1, 3-1) host Western Baptist Monday night at 5:30 in Brougham Pavilion.
