Seattle Pacific Opens Conference Play with Victory over Seattle University
November 30, 2000

SEATTLE, Wa.-Gus Balogh scored a game high 14 points and Kerie Hughes had 13 as Seattle Pacific University opened its PacWest Conference season with a 65-49 win over rival Seattle University, Thursday night at Connelly Center.

The Falcons pulled ahead mid way through the first half did not trail the rest of the game. SPU headed into the locker room at half time with a 33-30 advantage.

Balogh (Sr., Szombathely, Hungary) was four of five from the free throw line on the night and Hughes (So., Mount Vernon) tallied a game high seven assists. The sophomore point guard also stole the ball seven times.

Four Falcons scored in double figures. Stephanie Urrutia (Sunnyside, Wa.) and Kristin Poe (So., Enumclaw, Wa.) dropped in 10 points apiece. Poe pulled down a team high five rebounds.

The Redhawks were paced by the 11 points of Courtney Tinsley.
