SEATTLE (Aug. 21) -- Following some final
touches, including the University of Washington's first-ever visit
to Brougham Pavilion, Seattle Pacific University's men's
basketball schedule is now set.
The Falcons, coming off a Final Four
advancement in the NCAA Division II playoffs last spring, will
host the Huskies in the preseason opener for both teams Nov. 10.
That exhibition had previously been scheduled as the inaugural
game for Washington's newly renovated Bank of America Arena on the
same date but construction delays have moved its opening back to
Nov. 24.
SPU will also open the regular season at home,
hosting the Vitamilk Tip-Off Classic Nov. 17-18. The Falcons,
winners of the West Region and Pacific West Conference in 2000,
will face 1999 regional champion Cal State San Bernardino on
opening night. Alaska Anchorage, Seattle University and Simon
Fraser complete the remainder of the field.
In all, the Falcons will play 15 regular season
games at home.
BYU-Hawaii, the PacWest runner-up, visits for
homecoming Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 features a rematch of last season's
West Region title game between SPU and Central Washington. That
will be part of a five-game home stand to conclude the season.
Seattle Pacific is now paired with Western
Washington as a travel partner in conference play. The 18-game
league schedule begins Nov. 30 at Western. Seattle University and
Northwest Nazarene are new to the PacWest.
