Coming off an Elite Eight appearance and
national semifinal advancement, the Seattle Pacific University
men's basketball team is likely to draw even greater interest when
the Falcons take part in the inaugural game at the University of
Washington's Bank of America Arena.
SPU is tentatively set to play the Huskies in a
Nov. 10 exhibition at the renovated Edmundson Pavilion. It will be
the final tune-up prior to a 27-game regular 2000-01 season, which
begins Nov. 17-18 with the Vitamilk Tip-Off Classic at Brougham
Pavilion. That tournament brings together three of the teams from
the West Regional--SPU, Central Washington and Cal State San
Bernardino--plus Alaska Anchorage and Seattle University.
The Falcons, who were 27-5 and winners of both
the Pacific West Conference and West Region last season, will play
15 regular season games at home. BYU Hawaii, the PacWest runnerup
and an NCAA playoff team in March, visits on Feb. 3, Homecoming
Saturday.
A five-game home stand wraps up the regular
season, climaxed by a Senior Night showdown with longtime rival
Western Washington Mar. 3.
The revamped PacWest schedule now pairs the
Falcons and Vikings as travel partners. The conference has also
done away with a postseason tournament. Central Washington, which
fell to SPU before a capacity crowd in the regional championship
game in March, visits Brougham Feb. 17.
