SEATTLE (May 16) -- Brianne Prescott, the top
three-point shooter among the California junior college ranks last
season at San Jose City College, has signed a national letter of
intent to play basketball for Seattle Pacific University next
season.
Prescott averaged 18.0 points and hit a
school-record 140 three-pointers for the Jaguars as a sophomore.
For her two seasons at San Jose CC, she scored 1102 points and
converted 43 percent of her shots from behind the arc.
An honorable mention Kodak All-America guard,
the 5-foot-8 Prescott was a two-time all-Coast Conference
selection and second team all-state. She was named SJCC
student-athlete of the year for 1999-2000. The Jaguars were 58-13
during her two seasons, finishing third in the state tournament
each year.
Prescott, a 1998 graduate of Archbishop Mitty
High School, is joining one of the premier NCAA Division II
programs in the West. Seattle Pacific has made the NCAA tournament
each of the last four years, and made the 1998 Elite Eight. Last
season under Coach Gordy Presnell (12th year) the Falcons were
21-7. They will return four starters next season. |
