Frank
MacDonald, Assistant Athletic Director/Sports Information Director
Now in his 23rd year as the schools sport
information director and assistant athletic director, Frank
MacDonald has strived to expand and intensify the awareness of
Seattle Pacific athletics throughout the Puget Sound region and
state of Washington.
During his tenure, MacDonald has published 15
media guides which have been judged best in the nation by CoSIDA
and 13 others which have placed among the top three. He has also
twice won CoSIDAs award for best feature writing in the
nation, a competition which included schools of all divisions.
Outside of SPU, MacDonald often works for ESPN and ABC Sports as a
researcher and spotter, and he has contributed freelance articles
to The Seattle Times and Seattle Post-Intelligencer
among various newspapers and periodicals.
The University of Washington graduates 25
years of extensive writing and editing background includes 10
published sports books for children. He came to SPU in 1984
following four years of experience in media/public relations in
college and professional sports as well as corporate accounts.
MacDonald has previously served as media coordinator for the
Pacific West Conference and Northwest Collegiate Soccer Conference
for several years.
MacDonald has served on the NCAA Division II
Mens Soccer Regional Advisory Committee since 2004. He has
worked on media relations for the host committees of the 1994
World Cup for men and the 1999 World Cup for women, and has served
the past three years as Seattle venue press officer for the
CONCACAF Gold Cup and Champions World Series of international
soccer exhibitions.
He, his wife Cheryl, son Kyle and daughter Mary
reside in West Seattle. |
