CIS is now offering an internal instant messaging tool tied to your SPU account and Microsoft Outlook. It is called Microsoft Lync. Basic features include Chat, Video Conferencing and file sharing. The software provided limits users in the following way:

Installing Lync is a quick and easy process! Click your Start Button -> Control Panel -> Run Advertised Programs. From the list of programs, highlight Microsoft Lync 2010x86 and choose Run.
Lync Features
Lync 2010 will automatically sign in when you start you log in to your computer after installation, with your SPU Username and Password.

Advanced Features White Pages - By default Lync will use your White Pages picture (the same picture used on your SPU ID Card. This image will also appear in Outlook. If you'd like to change this setting, log into the Banner Info System and adjust your Privacy Settings. Changing your privacy settings will also affect Outlook and the White Pages. Outlook Functionality - Lync will automatically update your status based on appointments on your calendar. You may always override this by manually setting your status. No programs listed in Run Advertised Programs
If you don't see any programs listed, call the CIS HelpDesk at 206-281-2982 for assistance.
Unable to Share Programs
Microsoft Lync can share most programs. However, there are some that cannot be shared and instead you should use Desktop Sharing instead of Application Sharing.
