Download and Install SPSS for Mac
These instructions will walk you through downloading and installing both SPSS version 19 on a personal Apple PC.

This license is for 1 year.

System Requirements

  • OSX 10.6 or higher (Snow Leopard)
  • Processor: Intel Processor only
  • Memory: 1GB RAM or higher
  • Free Space on Hard Drive: 1.0 GB or more
How To:
  1. Click the Download Now link on the SPU Download Center. This will bring up a login screen. Log in with your SPU Username and Password.

  2. You will then be presented with a File Download Box. Select Save. Save the file to your desktop.

  3. If it does not, locate the file after download and move it to your desktop. Double click the icon to begin.

  4. The SPSS for Mac Installer will open, press Ok to start the installation.

  5. When prompted for the License Type choose Site license and select Next.

  6. Accept the IBM SPSS License Terms and press Next..

  7. Select where you would like to install the software and choose Next when ready. The default will be to a Statistics folder on your hard drive. To save elsewhere click Choose.

  8. You will see a Pre-Installation Summary window. Press Install to start the software installation.

  9. When the installation has completed you will need to start the license Authorization Prodcess. Click Done to get started.

  10. Choose License my product now and press Next.

  11. Enter the authorization code as seen below in the screenshot. Press Next when ready.

  12. When the authorization is complete you will see a Licensing Completed Window. Press Finish to begin using the software.

  13. The software will be located in your Applications folder as SPSSStatistics. If you have trouble locating the application, search for SPSSStatistics using Spotlight in the upper right hand corner.

Common Problems:

We strongly encourage users to download software through an Ethernet connection rather than over wireless. You will receive better throughput and a faster download speed.
