Download and Install Office Professional Plus 2013 on a Personally Owned Computer

Note: Do NOT use this install on an SPU-managed computer

These instructions will walk you through downloading and installing Office Professional Plus 2013 on a Windows machine. This process may involve steps that are not familiar to you.

Remove all previous versions of Microsoft Office (trial versions too) from your computer first.

System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8
  • Processor: Dual Core 2.0 Ghz or higher
  • Memory: 2 GB or higher
  • Free Space on Hard Drive: 3 GB or more
How To:
  1. Click the Download Now link on the SPU Download Center. This will bring up a log in screen. Log in with your SPU Username and Password.

  2. Press Save or Save As when prompted. You will now need to decide where to save the installation file. We recommend your Desktop or Documents folder.
  3. Locate and double click the OFFICEPROPLUS2013.EXE file
  4. You will see a progress window as the files are extracted.

  5. A window will open and choose the Install Now button when ready. If you have a previous version installed, see Common Problems.

  6. A window will show you the installation progress.

  7. When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to go to Office Online or you may Close the installer. At this point, you may start using the program.

Common Problems:

This installer has a built in removal tool. This installer will remove previous versions prior to its installation. If you have a previous or trial version installed, you will see the following image when you install the software:

Depending on your network speed, it may take anywhere from a few minutes to upwards of an hour to download. SPU does not recommend using dial up or a wireless connection when using the SPU Download Center. See the CIS Help Desk for more information on obtaining CD copies of this media if you have a dial up or wireless connection.
