Getting Connected CD based guide
  • What Is It?

This is a connection guide to help get your computer connected to the campus network. This guide assumes that you have already attempted to plug your network cable in to your computer and into the provided network jack in your room. This is sometimes called an Ethernet cable, CAT5 cable, or 10/100E cable. The plugs look similar to a phone cord's plug, but are slightly larger.

SPU provides one active Ethernet jack per person, per room. We do test all connections so please make sure you are connected to the correct jack.

  • How To

Get Connected
Getting connected to the campus network involves two primary areas of functionality. A physical connection to the network and authentication with the Cisco Clean Access software.
  1. Plug in!
  2. Open a web rowser to a page that is updated frequently, such as www.cnn.com.
  3. The network will automatically redirect you to the security software installation.
  4. Use your SPU Username and Password to log into the Cisco Download Page
  5. Download and install Cisco Clean Access (CCA).
  6. Log in to CCA using your SPU Username and Password to authenticate to the network.
  7. CCA will check your computer for current security updates and antivirus software. You will be prompted to install these if needed.
If you do not have this software or have other problems, stay logged in to CCA as it will grant you Temporary Network access so you can access our HelpDesk website, download Windows security updates, and download antivirus software as needed.
