Getting Connected CD based guide
Step 3 - Anti-spyware
SPU has monitored a large increase in the number of spyware related applications over the last two years that are on personally owned computers. While not a requirement, we strongly encourage all computer owners to download and run anti-spyware tools. Anti-spyware works much like anti-virus but it does look for different problems.
Spyware is often at the root of student problems with CCA. It is the most frequent support issue we see at the CIS HelpDesk. We are here to assist but personally owned computers are the responsibility of the owner. Please take appropriate steps to keep your computer running effectively.
Anti-spyware software is being developed in response to the growing spyware threat. There are many quality products available for free download such as Lavasoft's Ad-Aware or Microsoft's Windows Defender. SPU also has a license to distribute Lavasoft's Ad-aware product directly. Proceed to Help for more details.
You may be using this CD because you have already had problems connecting to the network. This is not a "fix my computer" tool. It is a guide to help you get connected to the network. In many cases, the connection problem lies with the computer. This guide will help you fix some common problems.
