Computer and Information Systems (CIS) primarily provides support for university owned computers. We provide limited support for personally owned computers. This support is oriented towards configuring these systems for connection with SPU online resources and the SPU network. We do not provide extensive "how to" information related to software applications. Much of the instruction that is available is contained in this website.
Faculty and staff offices have an assigned CIS Micro Team representative who can be contacted directly or through the CIS HelpDesk.
Students have access to more limited consulting and personal computer support directly through the CIS HelpDesk. We provide troubleshooting related to issues connecting to the SPU online services or the campus network. We will answer what questions we can by email, phone or walk-in. Issues that will take longer than a few minutes to resolve will generally have a follow-up appointment scheduled. Specific assistance for student owned computers is described on the Help for Students page.
All computers connected to the campus network must meet current industry standards, including the installation of current operating system updates and currently active anti-virus software.
CIS does not recommend any particular brand of computer for purchase, however both Dell and Apple provide special pricing for SPU faculty, students and staff based on current campus purchasing contracts.
