Welcome to Seattle Pacific University. We are very excited that you are starting school here and would like to provide information about the resources you have such as e-mail and how to access the Banner Info System.

During the summer it is important to make sure you are properly prepared for coming to campus in the fall. Accessing the Banner Info System as well as your e-mail account is essential to your first days on campus. You may also want to look into purchasing a computer that meets your needs while attending SPU.

Things you should do this summer

Log into the Banner Info System. The Banner Info System holds information about you regarding financial aid, records and registration and much more. When you first log in, make sure you check out the various tabs and know what resources are available to you. In order to access the Banner Info System you will need your SPU ID Number. Information for accessing Banner may be found in Accounts & Passwords.

Know your SPU Username and Password. Your SPU Username and password will give you access to a variety of resources such as email, access to computers on campus, the SPU network, Blackboard and more. These are separate credentials from your Banner ID Number and PIN. As a first time user, you will need to choose your first password and instructions to do so, may be found in Accounts & Passwords.

Purchase a computer. With all of the different brands available it can be confusing as to what computer you should purchase. The most important part of choosing a computer is making sure that it meets your individual needs. Make sure your Computer is ready to go. Along with purchasing a new computer, it is important that your computer have the necessary software components installed. This includes making sure that your computer has installed and updated antivirus software as well as the latest Microsoft Updates.

Additionaly, as a current student who has registered for classes, you have access to Microsoft software at a discounted price as well as free McAfee Enterprise Antivirus software. Information may be found on Software Distribution.

Protect your Personal Information
Since your SPU Username and Password as well as your Banner ID Number and PIN are used for various purposes at SPU, it is important for you to keep this information private. Sharing this information may result in your account and other university services being compromised. If you share this information, you give others access to everything you can access with your account. You may even be responsible for anything they do in your stead. Sharing your account with someone else is a violation of SPU Policy and may cause you to lose access privileges and be subject to disciplinary actions.
