  • What Is It

Netstore?
"NetStore" is a personalized network storage resource available to faculty, staff and students to store important electronic files and resources. SPU students, faculty and staff are assigned 25Mb of storage space on a confidential network server. Information stored in the NetStore is accessible only by the user and from virtually any networked computer. A fundemental difference between NetStore and Datasync concerns personal computers. If you have data on a personal computer that you wish to maintain on a network resource, NetStore may be a helpful resource.

Practical Applications:
Students may find it helpful to use their NetStore to save important papers and portfolios. It's a great place to keep a back up copy of essential academic resources. NetStore also works as a good temporary storage area save a paper here from home, then access and print it when you arrive to campus!

Faculty and staff can take advantage of NetStore as a means for save and transport files from their personal computer to the office.

NetStore is a handy place to backup important and/or confidential files.*

* Please note that NetStore is no substitute for good back-up practices. You should always keep at least two copies of important information on two sets of media (a hard drive and a Zip disk, for example) AND keep an additional copy of critical information in an entirely separate physical location. CIS will routinely backup NetStores to tape - but this is only done to safeguard things against a hardware failure. Please do not rely on your NetStore as the only place for back up materials!
