Datasync
Datasync is available to SPU faculty and staff members
only.
Datasync is an automatic network file synchronization
process for university-owned computers. Via Datasync,
the My Documents folder on your university computer
is automatically directed to a secure network file share.
Regardless of which university computer you log into,
you will have access to your My Documents folder.
Datasync is a convenient way to not only access files
across campus, but a means for securely backing-up important
university data. Simply saving files to your office
computer's My Documents folder creates a recoverable
backup in the event of desktop hardware failure.
How To
Using and Accessing Datasync
Once configured, there is very little a faculty or staff
member needs to do to maintain Datasync on their primary
desktop computer. As noted above, it is an automatic
process. To set up Datasync, please contact your CIS
Micro Systems Team representative.
What Not to Datasync?
Datasync affects your entire My Documents folder. Therefore,
the only files you store in My Documents should be university-business
related. Music files, family photos, etc., should be
stored in a folder outside of My Documents, since such
files are not important to back up and may actually
take up a lot of space on the storage network.
