There are many versions of Outlook. Verify you are using Outlook 2007 by opening the application and go to Help - About. CIS does not recommend Outlook versions other than 2007 or 2003, Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Most students, faculty and staff can upgrade to the Outlook 2007 under terms of our license agreement with Microsoft. Please see our Software Distribution page for details.
This document provides detailed instructions for configuring Outlook 2007 for use on- or off-campus. Please complete these instructions fully. Failure to do so may cause your computer to remove your email from the server, which may result in data loss. Only items stored on the server are recoverable in the event of emergency.
Required:
1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Mail
2. Click the E-mail Accounts… button to launch the account setup wizard.
3. Click the New… button to create a new Outlook E-mail account. 
4. Make sure the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP button is selected, click Next
5. Fill out the fields below (ensuring that you are using your full email address). Check the Manually Configure Server Settings or Additional Server Types button, then click Next.

6. Make sure the Microsoft Exchange option is selected, then click Next.

7. Enter spumail.spu.local into the Microsoft Exchange Server field. Select the Use Cached Exchange Mode box. Hit Next.

8. Then hit More Settings... (see screenshot in step 7 "Add New E-mail Account") Go to the Connection tab. Under Outlook Anywhere, check the box to Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP. Then hit Exchange Proxy Settings...
9. In the Exchange Proxy Settings window, enter rpcmail.spu.edu in the first text field (Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange). Match up your the rest of your settings with this screenshot (ensuring that Basic Authentication is used). Then hit OK in both this window and the Microsoft Exhange windown (see screenshot in step 9 "Microsoft Exchange").

10. Hit Next in the Add New E-mail Account (see screenshot in step 7). Then hit Finish. Your Outlook should now be setup for initial use. If ever prompted to login, use your full email address and password.
