Undergraduate Majors
Majoring in Music at Seattle Pacific University gives you the advantage of a rich and robust music education in a Christian university setting. A music degree from SPU prepares you to make a difference in the world, whether in a music profession or in any other profession you might choose.
With a Music Degree, you can choose from a wide variety of careers, from church musician to ethnomusicologist, composer to music critic, music librarian to music teacher. Or you might work in arenas as diverse as business or entertainment. The options are many.
At SPU, you can choose from these two music majors:
Music Major
As a Music major, you will choose one of five areas of emphasis:
- Composition
- General Music
- Music Education
- Performance (Vocal, Instrumental, Keyboard)
- Music Technology
Music Therapy Major
Seattle Pacific's Music Therapy major is the first undergraduate music therapy program in Washington state. As a Music Therapy major, you will choose one of three areas of emphasis:
- Physical Education and Exercise Science
- Psychology
- Special Education
Private Instruction
Music study is, above all, grounded in performance. As a Music major or minor at Seattle Pacific University, you will work privately with one of our outstanding faculty. The following areas are available on campus:
