Following the SPU Theatre Department’s production of “Bach at Leipzig” on Friday, February 1, SPU Professor of Music Eric Hanson led a special talkback session for audience members in the E.E. Bach Theatre in McKinley Hall on the SPU campus.
Hanson spent part of last summer in Thomaskirche Church in Leipzig, Germany, the setting for the play. He told stories about Johann Sebastian Bach, what he did in Leipzig, and the significance of the years 1721-22 (the time of the play). He also discussed the collision of the Reformation, the Counter Reformation, and the Enlightenment during the 18th century.
