SPU AFFILIATED STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS

There are three types of affiliated programs: SPU Faculty-Led Programs, BestSemester programs offered through the CCCU (Counsel for Christian Colleges and Universities), and Visitor Programs. Student costs for these programs are paid to SPU. Financial aid for these programs includes federal and state aid (except Work Study), as well as some SPU institutional aid (see specific programs for details).You can learn more about the financial aspects of these programs at http://www.spu.edu/depts/sfs/studentaccounts/study_abroad.

 

 

SPU Faculty-Led Programs:

You can learn about these programs in the Study Abroad section of the SPU Undergraduate Catalog:  http://www.spu.edu/acad/UGCatalog/20078/GeneralInfo/academicprogram_4.asp#1

Students enroll for their courses through SPU and the courses will appear on the Seattle Pacific University Transcript, with grades counting toward SPU GPA and academic honors.  Financial aid includes all forms of SPU aid, and federal and state aid (except Work Study).

 

Follow the procedures below to ensure that you receive all necessary information related to the program and provide SPU with all the information needed from you:

  • Contact the professor leading the study abroad program for application procedures.  Once accepted to theprogram, you will receive detailed information about program costs, payments schedules, timelines, and procedures to prepare you for the trip.
  • Schedule an appointment with Heidi Seivert in Student Financial Services to discuss payment andfinancial aid.
  • Complete the Financial Contract.
  • Complete the Travel Studies Form.

 

CCCU (BestSemester) Programs:

  • Complete all application materials for the BestSemester program (it’s extensive!).
  • Schedule an appointment with Heidi Seivert in Student Financial Services to discuss payment and financial aid.
  • Complete the Financial Contract.
  • Complete the Travel Studies Form.

 

Visitor Programs:

SPU has agreements with several institutions which allow SPU students to enroll for a quarter or semester as a visiting student.  Credits will transfer to SPU through an official transcript from the host institution.  SPU faculty and/or staff help facilitate enrollment.  Information about program facilitators is found in the SPU Undergraduate Catalog: http://www.spu.edu/acad/UGCatalog/20078/GeneralInfo/academicprogram_4.asp#3 .

Christian College Consortium:

  • Pick up Christian College Consortium Application at Student Academic Services in Demaray 120.
  • Once application is complete, schedule an appointment with Ben Weins in Student Academic Services by calling (206) 281-2021, to turn in your application.
  • Schedule an appointment with Heidi Seivert in Student Financial Services to discuss payment and financial aid.

 

Clark Atlanta College (Atlanta, Georgia), Daystar, and Soongsil University (Seoul, Korea):

  • Contact the Office of Student Life for program information.
  • Schedule an appointment with Heidi Seivert in Student Financial Services to discuss payment and financial aid.

FIT and FIDM:

  • Contact the designated faculty advisor in Family and Consumer Sciences for program information.
  • Successfully apply for admission to your major in the Family and Consumer Sciences department, if you have not already done so.
  • Schedule an appointment with Heidi Seivert in Student Financial Services to discuss payment and financial aid.
