French Culture and Cinema in
Paris, France
Paris, one of the oldest and most fascinating cities in the world, has fired the imagination of artists, writers, and students for centuries. Picture yourself spending a month studying in the "City of Light," immersed in history and surrounded by some of the world's finest art, architecture, and music.
This year we have added a new component to the Paris Program - the study of international film! Students will be able to choose from two tracks, either French language or Communications. Students in the French track will improve their spoken French and listening comprehension through activities both inside and outside the classroom. Students in the Communication track will develop an appreciation of film criticism and aesthetics, with a special emphasis on French filmmakers and cinema.
All students will develop an appreciation of France's diverse culture through daily interactions with the French in a variety of settings including markets, churches, museums, historical sights, cinemas and restaurants. They will also gain an appreciation of French film history, and in particular, the transatlantic collaboration between the French and American film industries.
As a participant in the Paris Study Program, you won't have to imagine these things - you can live them. The "Capital of the World" is your classroom as you study and see the sites and immerse yourself in a life of all things French!
