Non-SPU Study-Abroad Programs
The Study Abroad Office at Seattle Pacific University can help students find programs in every region of the world. Students who do not wish to attend SPU-sponsored programs may choose to participate in programs through third-party providers or enroll directly at a foreign university.
For non-SPU programs, students may use their state and federal financial aid (except work study), but do not receive any SPU financial aid or merit scholarships during their period abroad.
Third-Party Providers
Third-party providers are organizations that facilitate enrollment, housing, insurance, and excursions at foreign universities and U.S. campuses abroad. Transfer credit will be awarded based on an official transcript sent to SPU after program completion. Students pay tuition, fees, and room and board to the organization administering the program, not to Seattle Pacific.

Direct Enrollment
Some students choose to enroll at a foreign university independently, without participating in any study program or using a third-party provider. Students work directly with the foreign institution to register for classes and make arrangements for their own transportation, housing, and insurance.
If you choose this option, work closely with your faculty advisor and follow the steps above to ensure that the institution is accredited and the courses you choose will transfer to SPU and fulfill requirements. Transfer credit will be awarded based on an official transcript sent to SPU after courses are completed.
Please Note: Programs, policies, and procedures may change without notice. Check with the study abroad office or one of the academic counselors listed below for the most current information.
