Location Facts
While on European Quarter, students will travel through Italy, Switzerland and France, three culturally rich countries.
In Italy you'll experience the history and culture of the ancient city of Rome, renaissance art in Florence, and Venice, in northeast, renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and artworks. We'll visit Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis and the hilltown of San Gimignano, founded by the Etruscans in the 3rd century BC.
Next is Switzerland, which is wedged neatly between Germany, Austria, France, and Italy. Switzerland melds the best of all worlds - modern, efficient cities, majestic mountains and lakes while adding a healthy dose of chocolate, cowbells and quaint traditions.
In France students will experience the Normandy Beaches, site of the landing operations of the allied invasion in WWII. You'll visit the tidal island of Mont Saint-Michel and quaint seaside towns.
The last two weeks of the program will be spent in Paris, the capital of France, known as the City of Light. You'll visit several world-famous art museums including the Musee d’Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, and the Louvre, home to la Jaconde (the Mona Lisa).
