Location Facts

China is made up of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. It has the world's longest continuously employed written language system, and many major inventions occured in China, including the "four great inventions of Ancient China": paper, the compass, gunpowder, and printing.

• China is home to 1.3 billion people.
• While on this study abroad trip is in Beijing, SPU students will explore the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven, among other sites.
• Time at Southwest University will afford the chance to take tours to places such as the Three Gorges, Hainan Island, Xian to see the Terra Cotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the Wolong Panda Reserve, Jindao (Gold Knife) Gorge, and the Yongchuan Bamboo forest.
