Location Facts

China is made up of states and cultures dating back more than 5,000 years, boasting an abundance of illustrious ancient landmarks such as the Terra-Cotta Warriors, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Yangtze River. China has become an important and powerful actor on the world stage, significantly impacting foreign policies and global economics.

China has the world's longest continuously employed written language system, and many major inventions occured in China, including the "four great inventions of Ancient China": paper, the compass, gunpowder, and printing.

• China is home to 1.3 billion people, one-fifth of the world's population.
• While on this study abroad trip, SPU students will explore the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven, among other sites.
• Time at Sichuan University will afford the chance to take tours to places such as the Three Gorges, Xian to see the Terra Cotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and the Wolong Panda Reserve.
