Douglas Downing received his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University. His research interests include quantitative analysis in economics, information technology and the future of money. His areas of teaching are specifically microeconomics, quantitative methods, and money and banking.
Dr. Downing is the author of 14 books on quantitative methods and computers, including a trilogy of math textbooks in the form of adventure stories: Algebra the Easy Way, Trigonometry the Easy Way, and Calculus the Easy Way. Recently he has written Java Programming the Easy Way. His current economic work involves updating previous work on unemployment and investigating other public policy questions.
“China has a very interesting history, and it is changing very rapidly,” says Dr. Downing. “Thirty years ago it was an isolated country with little impact on world business. Today it is already a major player in the world economy, and its importance will grow. Looking to the future, to understand business, one must understand China.”
