British Isles Quarter
British Isles Quarter (BIQ) offers students of all majors the opportunity to live and study in Great Britain while earning academic credit.
Our exciting new British Isles program will begin with an optional pre-session in which students will travel for two weeks with one of SPU's own English Department professors. Students will enjoy a 3- credit travel writing course and learn about the literature of greats such as Shakespeare, Chaucer, Austen, and Woolf while exploring cities such as London, Stratford-upon-Avon and Cambridge, and seeing sights such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.
After the Pre-Session, students will be escorted to the city of Canterbury, one of the UK's most beautiful and historic cities. Canterbury is located in southeast England halfway between two of the world's greatest cities: London and Paris. There you'll be enrolled at the world class University of Kent, set in over 300 acres of parkland just over a mile away from the city center.
The Canterbury campus of University of Kent boasts a theater, used for both student and professional productions, sports facilities, banks, shops, restaurants, cafes, a medical center, and one of the most active student unions in the country. The University of Kent is voted one of the top universities in the UK in national student satisfaction surveys.
Students will be housed on campus in private bedrooms with shared living/communal areas. A variety of accommodation styles are available from modern apartments to traditional halls of residence.
