The study abroad coordinator and faculty sponsor of British Isles Quarter is Dr. Luke Reinsma. Dr. Reinsma first led the trip in 1998, and every four years since: 2002, and most recently in 2006. Dr. Reinsma has a Ph.D. from University of Michigan in English literature, with specialization in medieval literature.

“I love taking students to Great Britain — Britain is in love with both its history and its landscape,” says Reinsma of the trip. “When you’re in England, you can walk the very cobblestoned streets that Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Milton walked upon, and, in the Lake District, you can hike through the beautiful hills and dells that so inspired the British Romantics. And then there’s Wales, Scotland, and Ireland — Celtic and Gaelic lands whose toe-tapping, foot-stomping music and breathtaking scenery are simply unforgettable!”
