PRE-SESSION TRAVEL PROGRAM (Optional)

ENG 4953: Writing Workshop - Special Topics (3 credits)

Offers an intensive writing experience in a small workshop setting. Genres, themes and locations vary. May be repeated for up to 10 credits. Attributes: Upper-Division, Writing "W" course.

This two-week session will take place prior to the start of classes at University of Kent. Students will travel by bus through the English countryside and to London with one of SPU's English department faculty. Students will enjoy the cultural and historical sights of England, take in a play (or two), while participating in the writing workshop. Housing will be in a variety of hotels and B&B's.

At the conclusion of this course, students may return to Seattle for autumn quarter at SPU or stay in England and enroll at the University of Kent for autumn quarter.

 

AUTUMN QUARTER AT UNIVERSITY OF KENT (24 credits)

The University of Kent has a wide range of subjects available to study abroad students with course offerings primarily selected from the Humanities and Social Sciences. The most popular areas include English literature, social policy, psychology, philosophy, drama, politics and history.

Many science classes are also available to study abroad students, however, students wishing to take one or more science classes must enroll for an entire academic year.

Students will earn 24 quarter credits that will be transferred from University of Kent to SPU.

Support and Services

Your enrollment at University of Kent will entitle you to all of their academic resources to include a library with over a million books, periodicals and journals, well-equipped laboratories and studios, and a learning advisory service. Social facilities are equally good, with a range of cafes, restaurants and other meeting places, sport and music, and a theatre, nightclub and cinema on the Canterbury campus. You also have access to Kent's career service, medical facilities, counseling support and other student support services.
