ECN 3810: Community Economic Development
Prerequisite: ECN 2101 or 2102. This class provides an introduction to development economics; a subject that studies the economic transformation of developing countries and communities. Challenges to development addressed may include the absence of markets, market failure, health and credit constraints, human development, income distribution and inequality, population and migration, and human rights, as well as challenges unique to urban versus rural economics. Macroeconomic theories of growth and economic development will be introduced and analyzed as sustainable conduits for economic development. Offered alternate years.
