A Daughter's Arctic Journey

Author and alumna Shannon Huffman Polson’s memoir, North of Hope, chronicles a journey of grief into the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, rafting the Hulahula River to the place where her parents were killed by a grizzly bear. She returns to SPU, where she earned her MFA in Creative Writing in 2012, to speak at “Creative Conversations," a new series of events hosted by the Library. Her talk is Thursday, October 31, 12:10-12:50 p.m., in the Library Reading Room.

Polson was recently featured in SPU’s Response magazine.
