Professor Wins Poetry Award

Professor of English Jennifer Maier is the winner of the 2012 Poetry Society of America's (PSA) ”Emily Dickinson” Award. The society gives this award to honor the memory and poetry of Emily Dickinson and “for a poem inspired by Dickinson though not necessarily in her style."

The PSA's annual awards are among the most prestigious honors available to poets. They are given to poets at all stages of their careers, and recognize everything from a single poem to the society’s highest honor, the Frost Medal, which celebrates lifetime achievement in poetry.

Maier will receive the award on May 8 at the 102nd PSA annual awards ceremony at the National Arts Club in New York City. Congratulations, Professor Maier!
