Professor Wins Scholar Award

Professor of Accounting Ross Stewart has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant. The award will allow Stewart to teach, research, and assist with revising university curriculum at Daystar University near Nairobi, Kenya. He will be in at Daystar for approximately six months beginning January 2012.  He is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program in 2011-2012. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Stewart joined the SPU faculty in 1986. His accounting experience includes serving with Price Waterhouse & Co. as an auditor. His work has been published in The Accountant's Journal, Accounting Historians Journal, Accounting Organizations and Society, Accounting History, Accounting Finance and Business History, Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal and Accounting Review. He brings international experience to the discipline of accounting as a native of New Zealand.
