Governor Chris Gregoire has directed flags at all Washington State agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Wednesday, June 1, in memory of U. S. Army Sergeant Clifford E. Beattie of Medical Lake, Washington. Beattie, 37, died May 22 of injuries sustained in Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
The governor asks that other government entities, citizens, and businesses join in this recognition.
