Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that Washington state and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff today in memory of Washington State Department of Corrections Officer Jayme Biendl of Granite Falls. Biendl was killed January 29 at the Monroe Correctional Complex. The governor has asked other government entities, citizens, and businesses to join in this recognition.
