College Students Helping Future College Students

Professor of Education Greg Fritzberg, along with the assistance of doctoral student Suzannah Calvery, will facilitate a student mentoring program at two Seattle high schools and two middle schools.

Professor Fritzberg has a total of $161,400 in grants that will be used to hire 50 university student mentors who will tutor middle and high school students with the goal of preparing them for college preparation classes. The schools involved are Chief Sealth International High School, Denny International Middle School, Ingraham High School, and Hamilton International Middle School.

The grant is funded by the BECU, CO-OP Financial Services, Washington state's Higher Education Coordinating Board, and contracts with the Seattle Public Schools through the district's Federal Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.
