How To:

When a PIN or password is forgotten, the Reset process is used to return the account to a known, temporary value. These default values should be changed per the instructions below as soon as possible.

Reset Your Banner PIN

If you have forgotten this PIN, use one of the three options below to regain access to your Banner Account.

  • Answer your security questions*: At the login screen, enter your SPU ID Number and click the Forgot PIN button.  You will be prompted to answer the security questions you previously set up.  If successful, you will be prompted to choose a new Banner PIN.
  • In Person: go to the CIS HelpDesk in Lower Marston or SAS in Demaray Hall with Picture ID for in-person assistance.
  • Over the Phone: contact Student Academic Services at 206-281-2032 for assistance.
Reset Your SPU Username Password

If you cannot remember your SPU Username Password:

Log into your Banner Account, go to the Computer Resources Menu (MARS) -> locate the SPU Username resource and choose Change Password located to the right of your listed SPU Username.

Please note: CIS will not reset SPU Username passwords Manually.

Common Problems:

Turn AutoComplete Off
Internet Explorer has an "automatic completion" feature that allows your browser to save SPU Username and Password combinations. Normally, this convenient feature saves you time but if you change your password for Webmail, you may have trouble logging in. If you have set up Explorer to remember your password for Webmail, you will need to clear this old entry out of Explorer.

Check for the CAPS LOCK key it you are getting errors typing in a known-good password.

*Your security question is case sensitive, this includes punctuation.  If you have trouble answering your security question, contact Student Academic Services at 206-281-2032 or visit the HelpDesk in person with photo ID in Lower Marston.
