The Computer Resources Menu (MARS) within the Banner Information System is the key point for querying and managing resources associated with the SPU Username and password credential. These resources include, but are not limited to:

SPU email
Blackboard (Online Learning)
Network login (Cisco Clean Access)
Desktop/office/lab computer logins

Request Special Computer Accounts

How To:

There are many account management activities available from the Banner Computer Resources Menu (MARS). These include:

  • Set up your email account and password.
  • Forward or unforward SPU email to an off-campus account.
    • Not allowed for SPU employees or recommended for current students.
  • Change your SPU username and email address.
    • Helpful if you don't like the name generated for you, or if you get married and change your name.
  • View other resource details, such as special computer accounts.
    • Request additional accounts and Webspace via the Computer Resources Menu (MARS)

Exceptions to the Automatic Resource Creation Process
While resources are automatically created for most university students and employees, the following exceptions apply:

  • Non-matriculated, continuing education students, registered in non-degree seeking classes (5000 level or below 1000): Students with this standing are eligible for SPU Username credentials and resources, but their creation must be requested.
    • To do so, log in to Banner and go to the Computer Resources Menu (MARS) -> Request a Resource -> Basic Suite NT/Email/Netstore.
    • Your new account will be created within 24 hours.
  • Special circumstance employees (e.g., non-contracted; non-pay; employees of campus contract service providers): Persons in this situation should contact the CIS HelpDesk or Human Resources (206-281-2809) for clarification on their standing and eligibility.
  • Non-admitted students (graduate/undergraduate) registering for the first time: Account creation takes 24 hours from the time of registration.
    • If resources still do not exist after that, contact Student Academic Services (206-281-2032) for assistance.
Common Problems:
The most common problem associated with the Computer Resources Menu is accessing Banner. If you have forgotten your Banner PIN, try the Security Question option see PINs and Passwords for more information.
